Safety

Whilst every effort will be made to provide a safe environment, parents must accept that Mighty Oaks takes place in woodland, with varied terrain and natural hazards.

Please ensure that you and your children are dressed accordingly, with strong, sturdy footwear. Waterproof all-in-ones are essential for cold wet weather. High factor sunscreen in hot sunny weather. Hats are recommended all year round - to keep warm in winter, and for sun protection in summer.

PLEASE BE AWARE AT ALL TIMES -
ESPECIALLY OF THE FOLLOWING POTENTIAL EXCITEMENTS!

Uneven terrain, brambles and other trip hazards.
Muddy, slippy, wet areas.
Two large, deep ponds.
Water-filled clay pits.
Ditches.
Sticks and branches sticking out at various levels.

Possibility of poisonous mushrooms or toadstools - at Mighty Oaks we call all wild fungi 'toadstools' to help make the distinction between those and the mushrooms that we eat. Our rule is 'no touching toadstools at all'.

Ticks are quite common in the woods, especially in the warmer months, and should be removed as soon as possible. You should check your child, and yourself, all over for ticks after any time in the woods, especially if any area of bare skin has been exposed. We have a simple 'tick extractor' at Mighty Oaks, or you can obtain one yourself from a vet or pet shop. A dab of lavender essential oil helps make sure the area is disinfected.

Parents will be asked to sign a form which states that they know the risks involved and that they remain responsible for themselves and their own children at all times.

In addition, if we all look out for each other and each other's children, then we'll all surely be very well taken care of!

In no circumstance will Mighty Oaks be held responsible for any accidents which may occur.
